This complete, step-by-step tutorial walks you through setting up a Blogger site with a Hostinger domain, configuring the DNS records, and activating HTTPS security.
How to set up a Blogger website on a Hostinger domain?
Prerequisites
Before starting, ensure you have:
- An active Blogger account with a created blog.
- Access to your Hostinger Control Panel (hPanel) where your domain name is registered.
Step 1: Add Your Custom Domain in Blogger
First, tell Blogger which domain name you want to point to your blog.
1.1. Log in to Blogger:Open your blog control panel.
Go to Blogger.com and log in with your Google account. Select the blog you want to update from the top-left dropdown menu.
2.2. Navigate to Domain Settings:Access custom domain settings.
In the left sidebar, click Settings. Scroll down to the Publishing section and click on Custom domain.
3.3. Enter Your Hostinger Domain:Include ‘www’ in front of your domain name.
Type your domain name including the www prefix (for example, [www.yourdomain.com](https://www.yourdomain.com)). Click Save.
4.4. Copy the Required CNAME Records:Keep this page open—do not close it!.
Blogger will display an error message containing two CNAME records that you must add to Hostinger:
- CNAME 1 (Standard):
- Name:
www - Destination / Target:
ghs.google.com
- Name:
- CNAME 2 (Unique Verification Code):
- Name:A unique short code (e.g.,
5x8z9a...) - Destination / Target:A unique Google address (e.g.,
gv-...googlehosted.com)
- Name:A unique short code (e.g.,
Step 2: Configure DNS Records in Hostinger hPanel
Now, point Hostinger’s DNS settings to Google’s servers using the information generated by Blogger.
1.1. Log in to Hostinger hPanel:Access your domain management area.
Go to Hostinger.com and log into your hPanel. Click on Domains from the top menu and select your domain name.
2.2. Go to DNS / Nameservers:Open DNS Zone Editor.
In the left panel, click on DNS / Nameservers. Ensure your domain is using Hostinger default nameservers (ns1.dns-parking.com and ns2.dns-parking.com).
3.3. Add the Two CNAME Records:Connect ‘www’ and verification token.
Under Manage DNS records, create the following two CNAME records:
- First CNAME Record:
- Type:
CNAME - Name:
www - Target:
ghs.google.com - TTL:
300(or Default) - Click Add Record. (If an existing CNAME record for
wwwexists, edit it or delete the old one first).
- Type:
- Second CNAME Record (Security Verification):
- Type:
CNAME - Name:(Paste the unique short code from Blogger)
- Target:(Paste the unique
googlehosted.comaddress from Blogger) - TTL:
300 - Click Add Record.
- Type:
4.4. Add Google’s 4 A-Records:Connect root domain (yourdomain.com) to Google.
To ensure visitors who type yourdomain.com (without www) reach your blog, add four A Records pointing to Google IP addresses.
Create 4 separate A Records with the following parameters:
- Type:
A - Name:
@(or leave blank depending on hPanel layout) - TTL:
14400
Add these IP addresses one by one as the Points to / Target:
216.239.32.21216.239.34.21216.239.36.21216.239.38.21
Step 3: Complete Domain Setup in Blogger
Once the DNS records are saved in Hostinger:
- Return to your Blogger Settings tab.
- Click Save on the Custom Domain popup.> Note: If Blogger shows an error, wait 10 to 15 minutes for Hostinger’s DNS records to propagate, then click Save again.
Step 4: Enable Redirect & HTTPS Security
After Blogger accepts your domain, configure redirection and free SSL encryption.
In Blogger Settings:
- Enable Domain Redirect:Under Publishing, turn on Redirect domain (
yourdomain.com$\rightarrow$[www.yourdomain.com](https://www.yourdomain.com)). This ensures users reach your site regardless of how they type the URL. - Enable HTTPS Availability:Under the HTTPS section, toggle HTTPS availability to Yes.
- Enable HTTPS Redirect:Once the SSL certificate status changes to Available (usually takes 15–30 minutes), toggle HTTPS redirect to Yes. This forces all HTTP traffic to secure HTTPS.

Troubleshooting Common Issues
- “Couln’t verify authority” Error in Blogger:DNS propagation takes time. It can take anywhere from 15 minutes up to 24 hours for Hostinger’s DNS updates to propagate globally. Double-check that there are no typos in the security CNAME token.
- Site Not Opening Without “www”:Ensure you added all 4 Google A Records in Hostinger and turned on Redirect domain in Blogger settings.
- “Your connection is not private” (SSL Error):This happens right after linking the domain while Google generates your free SSL certificate. Wait 15–30 minutes, then refresh your page.
